About Tara Cunningham

Home gardener. Tea drinker. Pinterest whisperer.

Hi, I’m Tara—co-owner of Lawnmowerfixed.com and the one behind all the gardening content you see here.

While John’s usually elbow-deep in engine grease, I’m happiest with soil under my fingernails, a cherry tomato in one hand, and a trowel in the other.

My corner of the site is all about helping busy people grow food and flowers without the overwhelm—because let’s be honest, most of us don’t have hours to spare or endless energy to burn.

I didn’t grow up on a farm (far from it—I’m a Dublin girl at heart), but I’ve always been drawn to nature, especially the simple beauty of growing your own.

These days, you’ll find me in the vegetable beds, camera in hand, documenting what’s working, what’s not, and how to make gardening feel less like a chore and more like a little pocket of peace in your week.

What I Write About

On Lawnmowerfixed, I cover:

  • Easy-start guides for beginner gardeners
  • Container and raised bed growing (because not everyone has a big yard!)
  • No-fuss seasonal tips for veg, herbs, and flowers
  • How to grow more with less time, space, or energy
  • And my firm favourite: perennials that thrive on neglect (ahem, looking at you, oregano)

Behind the Scenes

I’m a graphic designer by trade, which means I also create all the printables, planners, and Pinterest graphics you’ll find in our subscriber library. Every guide I create is something I actually use in our garden—or wish I had when we were starting out.

I believe gardening should be simple, satisfying, and forgiving. And that it should fit around your life, not take it over.

A Few More Bits

  • I prefer tea over coffee (but I’ll happily make John a cup of his favourite)
  • I love spring, shady gardens, and bees
  • I bake a mean meringue (just don’t slam the door while it’s in the oven)
  • We live on a 10-acre plot in Virginia with our kids, hens, and a forest we planted ourselves

Let’s Grow Together

If you’re new to gardening, know this: you don’t have to be perfect to grow good things. Start with what you’ve got—even if it’s an old box on a balcony—and the rest will come.

💌 Join our newsletter for simple gardening tips, fresh printables, and new tools added weekly to our subscriber-only library. I’d love to help you grow something beautiful.
